Konferenzen und Workshops 2023

06.-10. November 2023

Machine learning has become a hot topic in particle physics over the past several years. In particular, there has been a lot of progress in the areas of particle and event identification, reconstruction, generative models, anomaly detection and more. In this conference, we will discuss current progress in these areas, focusing on new breakthrough ideas and existing challenges.

The ML4Jets workshop will be open to the full community and will include LHC experiments as well as theorists and phenomenologists interested in this topic. We explicitly welcome contributions and participation from method scientists as well as adjacent scientific fields such as astronomy, astrophysics, astroparticle physics, hadron- and nuclear physics and other domains facing similar challenges.

Young Scientists Meeting of our CRC TRR 257

16.-18. Oktober 2023

The Young Scientists Meeting - This is a three-day meeting for all members of the Collaborative Research Center (CRC) TRR 257. The scientific talks will be presented by young scientists (PhD students or PostDocs) and they will focus on the various projects of our CRC. This will give all participants the opportunity to gain a better overview of these projects and allow the speakers to present their research in front of a large audience. Besides scientific talks, this meeting also includes a Workshop to promote well-being within the research community and a talk about funding opportunities. The Young Scientists Meeting 2023 will be held in person at the University of Siegen.

16th International Workshop on Top Quark Physics (TOP2023)

24.-29. September 2023

The 16th International Workshop on Top Quark Physics (TOP 2023) will be held in person, from September 24 to 29, 2023, in Traverse City, Michigan, USA. TOP 2023 brings together experimentalists and theorists to present and discuss the latest developments in top-quark physics. This year's meeting will be hosted by North American institutions on Lake Michigan. Young scientists are especially encouraged to participate, and there will be a poster session as well as a block of short plenary talks in the "Young Scientist Forum'', allowing them to present their work.

28. Mai - 2. Iuni 2023

16th International Symposium on Radiative Corrections: Applications of Quantum Field Theory to Phenomenology . This conference is the 16th in the series of biennial RADCOR conferences on radiative corrections. It is devoted to the applications of quantum field theory to particle physics phenomenology. Subjects will include precision calculations for colliders; progress in higher-loop and higher-multiplicity calculations in the Standard Model; cross sections for new physics; interpretations of experimental data; new techniques for calculations; advances in computer-algebra methods; new theoretical developments. The conference will be held in Crieff, an attractive old market town in the heart of Perthshire in central Scotland.

The Gradient Flow in QCD and other Strongly Coupled Field Theories

20. - 24. März 2023

The gradient flow field transformation is a continuous smoothing transformation that removes ultraviolet fluctuations. It can serve as a tool to renormalize quantum field theories, allowing numerical studies of strongly coupled systems. The flow has been used extensively in lattice gauge theory calculations, both in QCD and in beyond the standard model settings for applications including scale setting, the determination of the running coupling constant and the corresponding renormalization group beta function, and the topological structure of the vacuum. Many of the newly emerging applications of the gradient flow depend on the perturbative connection of the gradient flow and continuum renormalization schemes, requiring difficult perturbative calculations that match the non-perturbative lattice methods. This workshop will bring together experts in lattice and perturbative QCD to discuss recent progress in the application of the gradient flow, develop common ideas, identify needs and possibilities for the gradient flow and to spark collaborative efforts.
